5 Bars For National Bourbon Heritage Month

Fun fact: September is National Bourbon Heritage Month and with the F1 craziness already behind us (who else had a major hangover moment this morning?), we're already looking for another reason to get our drink on. Celebrate the last week of Bourbon Month and raise a glass to the Native American Spirit at these 5 bars.

The Beast
Heading today's list is none other than Singapore's only all-American bourbon bar, The Beast. Featuring over 30 types of bourbons and barrel-aged cocktails, this bar is kind of an obvious choice to toast National Bourbon Month. For the fickle (or greedy, perhaps), the menu has a sampler option, letting you choose from 5 classifications of bourbon (low rye, single barrel etc). Each classification has 3 different brands, so go there often enough and you'll be able to boast about having tried every single brand they carry.

Manhattan Bar
Think about drinking bourbon, and an image of Don Draper (Mad Men) sitting at a polished bar and sipping a drink comes to mind. Which is why we're looking towards The Manhattan (coincidentally, named after the same city the series is set in), a bar that is as classy as their menu is extensive- and that's probably an understatement. They've got a bourbon list a mile along, and some of the best cocktails they have are crafted with said bourbon, making this bar yet another obvious choice. Plus, we're completely in love with the ambience.

Axis Bar & Lounge
Introducing the New Age of Bourbon, a revival of sorts, if you will. Often seen as Whiskey's less popular sister, Axis Bar & Lounge is featuring this overlooked spirit in 10 signature cocktails on their menu, offering a taste palette that ranges from citrusy to sweet. For something a little more familiar, turn to what they call The Manhattan Project, a series of 10 classic cocktails that have been reinterpreted with modern twists (bacon cherry coke, anyone?).

Overeasy
National Bourbon Heritage Month started in Kentucky, USA, so is it really a surprise that we'd turn to yet another all-American establishment? An all-time favourite with the CBD crowd, what with their timely 1-for-1 happy hour promo (5-8pm), pair their bourbons with tasty diner classics. Think sliders, fried chicken and waffles and crisp shoestring fries- perfect for soaking up all that booze.

The Auld Alliance
A highly respected player in the Whiskey game, The Auld Alliance boasts over 1,400 types of whiskies, including American ones. While one might not immediately consider the bar a first choice for bourbons, they do stock some rare ones from the 1970s- which is basically a history lesson in a glass and the perfect way to commemorate the celebration of this fine spirit.
